CATALYST

This year the Catalyst has a revamped design that encompasses every function a rider needs out of a wakeskate. I pushed the concave on the tip and tail all the way to the edge to maximize the “pocket‚” your back foot sits in for more comfort and control. The concave also stays the same height all the way through the length of the board for added leverage so your front foot is happy too. The rocker has also been slightly reduced to make the board more forgiving on lip tricks but still has the same proven 3-Stage rocker line.

I also wanted to soften the bottom edge and rail on my decks to prevent the board from catching an edge. We did that by adding a two-tiered bevel to the bottom of both of my sizes. The new Shank fin is the first wakeskate fin designed with width in mind. By making it wide and flat on top, water flows over the top of the fin so when your board is riding straight it hooks up but it won’t hang you up when you are in a lip or boardslide. The Catalyst is also equipped to hold the Byerly Lock so you can work on your noseslides. Probably the best change on my new line is the weight. I love the feel off the wake of a foam core wakeskate but wanted my new board to sit deeper in the water. ¬†My new series comes with twice the amount of glass as my old shape, making the board that much stronger, but also that much heavier. We added almost 1.25 lbs to my shape riding lower in the water. I had an idea of a new top traction pad. Hyperlite made it and the team dug it, so now it’s on every wakeskate this year.
